F.Y.I.
My ISP blocks bulk mailings over a certain
size, and also the number of mailings in a
limited time period. All active
addresses on the email distribution list
are divided roughly into four parts and
then the times sent are staggered.
To find the email address for any specific

ABOUT
THE NEWSLETTER:
CLEVER BOY
was chosen as the newsletter's name because
it is
Sabalo's voice communication call sign.
The USS Sabalo Association charges no dues for
membership, or other costs of
communication. Our newsletter is available
to all those who have a known email or postal
address, including hard
copies to those who have opted for same.
The expenses for the newsletter and the web site
are covered strictly by voluntary donations from
Sabalo shipmates who help preserve the
camaraderie, and keep all men informed of any
activities, and the whereabouts of all Sabalo
vets.

EDITOR
EMERITUS- Ronald
D.Gorence QMC(SS),Ret. (aboard Sabalo
'66-70) Ron had volunteered
during the September 2009 reunion in San
Diego to be Chief Editor of a new and
expanded version of the Sabalo
newsletter. His gathering of topics
of interest, and his own penchant for
recounting sea stories made the 28 issues
he composed, printed and distributed a
much enjoyed, free subscription by
many. His inclusions covered any
reunion news, information about shipmates,
submarine news items of interest, and some
sea stories from others, scuttlebutt and a
few jokes too.
It is with sadness
to report the passing of our esteemed
shipmate. He succumbed to
his long battle with cancer on 20 April
2018. As most of you know from our
newsletters, he had been battling cancer his
last few years, first colon, then
lung. His last report was that these
both were not detected at his last exam. He had
been incommunicado starting late March 2018,
so on a hunch, I searched the internet and
found his obituary one week after he died. The report I have
received from his family is that the
final problem was metastasis to the
brain.
